Nothing beats the feel of a natural grass pitch. Perfection may be the goal, but the reality is often otherwise: bald patches, loose divots, irritating puddles … Just like the players, a natural pitch needs rest after the competition. However, on a synthetic pitch, another set of players can start training immediately after the match.
With synthetic grass you can always expect the same good conditions. Whereas natural grass gives up after around 250 hours play per season, artificial grass can be played on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Naturally, this is dependent on good regular maintenance.
Heavy showers, long drought, snow and frost…the condition of a natural pitch is very sensitive to the weather. Synthetic turf is not: the artificial pitch drains well in wet weather, you will not kick up divots and the tufts of grass are securely anchored in the turf. No more biting the dust in hot weather and you can simply remove the snow in winter. In Scandinavian countries, artificial pitches are even equipped with underground heating systems that keep the synthetic turf ready for play even in the coldest of temperatures. Your competitions can go ahead on artificial grass, the competition schedule does not become disrupted and there is no need to cancel training sessions …ideal, don’t you think?
Sowing, mowing, fertilizing, chalking the lines… ‘real’ grass needs a lot of effort, time and money. Artificial grass does not. That has a lot to do with easy maintenance. The ‘daily’ maintenance (brushing, removing rubbish and leaves) can easily be done by volunteers and does not require any special training. For professional supervision, Desso Sports Systems is happy to draw up a maintenance plan with you. On average, twice a year, experts will visit you and systematically inspect the entire synthetic turf area. If you maintain your synthetic turf well it will certainly last 15 years and retain its play characteristics. In other words, playing on it will always be a good experience.
Synthetic turf saves space. Sounds strange? Not if you think that one synthetic pitch has the capacity of at least 3 natural pitches. Moreover an artificial pitch is used for different sports, from mini-league to the first team, for training and competitions. If you buy a synthetic pitch together with another club or share the costs with your local authority, then the price really becomes very interesting.
Synthetic grass is ideal for improving your sporting skills. When playing on the same high standard surface then any deficiencies in technique can be focussed on and improved. There are no worries about loose sods, subsidence or puddles on the pitch disrupting your game.
One thing is clear: the benefits of artificial grass are numerous. Yet Desso Sports Systems, on your behalf, continues to strive for an even better surface. Pushing the boundaries. By sportspeople for sportspeople. We go for it.
