A number of years ago Real Madrid left Ciudad Deportiva, the training complex where the players of the Madrid top team had been improving the tricks of their trade for over 40 years. Today, the team trains at a new training centre, equipped with Desso Sports Systems artificial-grass pitches.
Desso Sports Systems is no stranger at Real Madrid. The artificial grass training pitches of Las Rosas, training centre of the Spanish national football association and once the training site of star footballers, come from Desso Sports Systems. For the prestigious training complex of Real 1 pitch was chosen with reinforced natural grass (Desso GrassMaster) and 5 Desso artificial grass pitches.
The installation of the artificial-grass pitches was completed in July 2005 and proceeded in five stages:
1. subsoil construction: the soil is worked into an even, stable and water-permeating sub-layer
2. positioning the artificial grass: the artificial-grass rolls are placed along the edges of the pitch and then rolled out across its width
3. attaching the seams: the seams connecting the artificial-grass rolls are stuck together with special glue
4. creating markings: most lines and markings were stitched into the artificial-grass cover in the plant. Other lines can be cut out on-site
5. filling up the pitch with a sand/rubber mixture
Thanks to the new artificial-grass covers the star players of the Spanish top club can once again train at any time in the best possible circumstances.
