Technological tour de force
Top class RSC Anderlecht puts the bar high. Both in a sporting field and in the field of infrastructure and equipment. In order to offer players and trainers every comfort, the club resolutely supports technically advanced solutions. An ambitious partnership
Targeted investments in sophisticated sports facilities help Sporting Anderlecht to put its sporting aims, at a national and international level into practice.
A first decisive step was made last year with the installation of Desso GrassMaster, natural grass reinforced with artificial grass fibres, on the main training pitch. What made the club make the decision at the time and what is the turf like today? "After 600 hours of play the field is still in perfect condition. Discussions with colleagues at English top clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal FC convinced the management of Anderlecht to choose Desso GrassMaster. This all resulted in an important partnership with Desso Sports Systems," says Yves De Cocker, Sales Manager at Desso. Thanks to this unique system RSCA always plays and trains in the same ideal – I would almost say perfect – circumstances. A striking detail: artificial turf was applied around the pitch, the ideal foundation for the rehabilitation of injured players and warming up reserve players during the match.

A length ahead
The construction of the training centre at Sporting Anderlecht is planned in two phases. Phase one provides for laying an outdoor artificial grass pitch of 8 200m², an indoor artificial pitch 2.400m² and one natural grass pitch of 8000m². The club chose top quality artificial turf with the Desso Challenge Pro2. It is an extremely durable system with long-term maintenance of the characteristics of play. Desso installs the fields in partnership with its Belgian partner Sportscape. The knowledge and know-how as regards project and time management and the proven lead in product and ground experience was decisive for Sporting Anderlecht.
General Manager Herman Van Holsbeeck sees it as follows: "It is crucial that training and matches can be played under optimal conditions from the very beginning. As a club we place the highest priority on that."
