“I partly attribute the many extra members in our club to the installation of our Desso hockey field.
Everyone wants to play on it, everyone is enthusiastic.”
Wil Hoebergen
former chairman of Asten Someren
Hockey clubs used to be able to choose between sand-based artificial turf or a fully synthetic water-based field. A water-based field is financially more difficult to achieve for many clubs due to the higher costs of the field, the irrigation system and also the water consumption. Sand-based artificial turf systems were consequently also most common.
Desso Sports Systems searched for a solution and developed the semi-water-based field Desso Trophy. This "sand dressed" artificial turf field offers the quality and characteristics of play of a water-based field for a price that is more common for sand-based quality. The Dutch hockey club Asten-Someren took the opportunity and installed a semi-water-based field from Desso as one of the first. With results.
"Since HC Asten-Someren began using its new hockey field, the club has truly blossomed. " That is the conclusion of Wil Hoebergen, former chairman of the Dutch second division hockey club. "The great advantage in relation to the sand-filled fields is that the game speed is much higher and the speed of the water-based fields is almost equalled. In relation to water-based fields Desso Trophy also has the advantage that a high ball only bounces once and then rolls, whereas it continues to bounce on a water-based field. There is also often a fight here about who gets to play on the Desso Trophy. Visiting clubs have also discovered the qualities of our field." I partly attribute the many extra members in our club to the installation of our Desso hockey field. Everyone wants to play on it, everyone is enthusiastic."
