The Stockholm city park Vasaparken needed regeneration. The purpose of the renovation? More recreational & sports facilities without disturbing the park landscape. According to the firm of architects artificial turf fitted perfectly in this picture.

Spentab, the Swedish partner of Desso Sports Systems, submitted a proposal with a multifunctional character: 2800m² Desso Soccergrass artificial turf combined with the Spentab frost system. "By using the cooling system a layer of ice can be applied to the synthetic grass," explains Stefan Ötterstrom, General Manager at Spentab. "The combination of a skating rink alternating with a synthetic grass pitch allows local residents to play their favourite sports all year round." That guarantees continuity both in winter and summer."

The frost- & heating system is based on a unique design. "The frost system is installed at the top in the rubber layer which limits the energy consumption and operating costs to a minimum. 2 winters have already proven the efficiency of the installation. There is a lot of interest in the project and sport fans react enthusiastically.", says Ötterstrom.
