“The new synthetic playing surface is fantastic, the top surface that you can get in the world and we have that now as an option”
Tony Pulis, Stoke City FC First Team Manager

Optimal training conditions all year round for Stoke City FC

In winter, Premier League club Stoke City FC was often forced to move its training sessions to the Britannia Stadium because it was their only pitch with undersoil heating. To have other options available to beat the winter, SCFC decided to install a Desso iDNA synthetic grass pitch in their state-of-the-art Clayton Wood Training Academy.

Better prepared for matches

Tony Pulis, Stoke City FC First Team Manager: “We are much better equipped to deal with the severe weather and that can only have a positive effect on our preparations. The new synthetic playing surface is fantastic, the top surface that you can get in the world and we have that now as an option.” Nick Robinson, Stoke FC training ground facilities manager agrees: “The pitch is used on a regular basis and the players and staff think it’s great.”

Clayton Wood, “where everyone wants to be”

Richard Smith, Managing Director of Stoke City Property about the Clayton Wood Training Facility: “Not only will it help us to retain our best players, it will also improve our chances of attracting new signings to strengthen the squad. We want them to think “this is a place I want to come to” whether they are transfer targets for the first team squad or the youngsters and their parents who are looking at our Academy.”
